Recent Works

     Yayoi Kusama has returned to the public attention in the turn of 2000s, after thirty years of isolation in Japan. Kusama attentively worked in the studio apartment close by the mental institute. She has accomplished over thousands of art work, published series of writings and poetry. Through time Yayoi Kusama has become increasingly sophisticated with her motifs. She developed a strong style that couldn't possibly be mistaken as someone else.

I'm Here, but Nothing 2000

     One of Yayoi Kusama's obsession was infinite space. The exhibition "Infinity Mirrored Room - Filled with Brilliance of Life 2011" was one of the best demonstration of her ability to translate vision of proliferation into form that's magical and illusional. Walking into the gallery looks as if walking into a maze lost in lights and dots of the universe. A room clad entirely with mirrored panels, shallow pool of water covers the floor. Colored lights from the ceiling flicker on and off, illuminating the room and its reflections in a repetitive pattern that suggest endlessly repeating cycles of life and death.

According to survey of museum attendance in 2014, Yayoi Kusama is crowned the most popular artist of the year. Her "Infinite Obsession" drew over 2 million visitors to her work, far surpass her male and female competitors.
